So, I go to a school where we do have to wear uniforms and personally I do like the whole uniform thing. But I do have a few reasons to why students shouldn’t wear uniforms.

  1. Cost. You have to pay for your own uniform and there not cheap. Also if you grow more or they get damaged you’ll have to replace them. Some people can’t afford it.
  2. Individuality. With uniforms every of course, is dressed the same. This takes away from a person’s character. they can’t dress they way they wan’t and it takes away their individuality. It makes us all the same when we should be expressing our differences.
  3. Comfort. Most people find them uncomfortable to wear. There isn’t much less to express on that besides students should feel comfortable in schools.

A reason we do wear uniforms is because of bullying. But honestly I don’t believe this at all. I don’t see someone bullying others because of what there wearing. But then again I do live in Canada, where something like that is less likely to happen.

Those are the best reasons I can come up with. I’m sure there are more if you really think about it.

There is no research that indicates there is a correlation between academic success and uniforms. Certain schools have specific reasons for implementing either uniforms or a SMOD policy (Standard Mode of Dress) beyond a normal dress code. Some schools want to eliminate bullying (although in middle schools the kids tend to always find something to pick on one another about) or simplify the dress code so no one particular group stands out more so than the other (such as in a school with diverse socioeconomic populations). There are some schools that refuse to mandate uniforms because they (or the parents) believe it restricts students in terms of their personal expression. Honestly any one good reason why they should not wear uniforms is as effective as the other – it really just depends who you’re trying to persuade.

I am against school uniforms for regular (in the US, public schools. Public school is different in the UK.)

for the US, this is very different.

In the US we have a volunteer military force, we have employment where one accepts wearing a uniform. to wear a uniform should denote volunteering, whether for the military, emergency response or employment and it’s a source of pride. with a PRIVATE school, which is a step beyond, there’s a reason to be proud of the uniform, the parents took the extra step.

very few people are FORCED to wear uniforms. there at two categories of people FORCED to wear uniforms.

We have involuntary uniforms for two people. Inmates, and children from poor areas. In my area, some people say that the bad schools, which they resorted to uniforms because of a need to discourage GANG clothing, are ‘ghetto’ schools and the snide comment is they might as well get use to not having a choice in their clothing.

so if the only forced uniforms are for inmates and public schools in bad areas, it’s pretty degrading. some might argue it’s racist as you’ll see that most public schools requiring uniforms are in areas with mostly minority students.

You’ll find something interesting about who prefer kids wear school uniforms in public schools. they are petty tyrants, likely racists.

some others who forced school uniforms.

I am sorry my answer will not exactly answer your question but I do not think that students should not wear uniforms. I personally think they look really cool and represent a phase in life that you have spent together with people who are just like you.

Uniforms represent a time in our lives that we spend looking up to the older generation. It is the time that shows they are the ones responsible. Whether or not the adults realize this responsibility is an entire different story. They bring in unity in the youth and even camaraderie. You cannot differentiate between their socioeconomic class, to some extent and sometimes they even forget.

Uniforms do not do wonders. They do not get rid of racism or bullying, To me they just represent a time in my life when i went to a place, with people just like me, studied the same books and ate the same stuff. It was a time when I was not an adult, just someone who had to observe and look up to them.

Some time back in South Africa there were racial problems. The whites used to look down at blacks.

A school in the area found a brilliant way to tackle the problem. They ordered all students to paint themselves brown.

This brought equality in the school, as there were no whites or blacks, but outside school the same students used to differentiate based on colour.

Today in India, there is a lot of difference between the rich and the poor, upper and lower casts, etc.

So one school told all students to wear a particular uniform. That stopped inequality in schools, but outside school the rich still look down at the poor.

In an imaginary city, the blacks and whites studied at the same school. As children saw from a very young age that both the races were same, they caused an initial discrimination in the school, but they grew out of it, in both public and private life.

In an imaginary city, poor people wore poor clothes and rich people wore rich clothes to school. There was an initial euphoria, but children understood that friendship is better than money. Children also understood from their various personal experiences, what clothes are appropriate for what occasion. Not just textbooks, they learnt many more things in schools.

Unless you see and live with the poor, how can you sympathize with them? [1]

Students from various economical background happen to study in the school, clothing may create inferiority complex to some and it may affect them phycologicaly influence the childrens. Common dress to all will be a solution for this and useful in teach equality to the students.Especially in a Country like India where people living with many economical and cultural diversity, uniforms seeds students a sense of equality in society.

I thought uniforms were a great idea. As a teacher, I thought uniforms would create more equality in the school. Nope…

Uniforms were just one more thing I had to police. I had to send kids to the office who were out of uniform. I had to listen to parents complaints about the uniforms. I had some parents mad that their students followed the uniform rules while other students did not. Worrying about student clothes is not my job.

Uniforms ended up being more of a hassle. I hope that I never have to deal with uniforms again.

Those two are the only courses I play there. I’m not good enough to play Fox Run.

Would Deters have enough to buy it? I don’t see it unless he has investors backing him.

Fox Run isn’t good enough for you. Fox Run has been in horrible shape for several years now. I wasn’t a fan of the layout to begin with, but it’s absolutely brutal to play when it’s in such disrepair. Forced carries, horrible lies, blind shots…it’s just not fun. I don’t mind a hard course, but Fox Run just seems needlessly hard and difficult with no rhyme or reason. Easily the most overrated course in the area.

I know the county fired the GM back in November and launched an investigation into some financial issues. Kenton County golf manager fired, being investigated .

It would suck if the courses went private as it is so close to me. But really, it rarely looks busy, and tee times are plentiful. I can’t imagine that the course could generate enough memberships if it went private, and as was mentioned, at least one of the courses and maybe two would end up getting shut down. The golf industry is spiraling down and that is one business I wouldn’t want to be in right now.

The Deters family has quite a bit of commercial development investments so this would not surprise me and I am not surprised they have the money to buy this if this is true.

I knew Fox Run was in bad condition for the past couple years. I played it when it first opened and was overwhelmed by it (so I have stayed away since then). Willows was always my favorite. When my son is up from Lexington, we play Pioneer since we can play it rather quickly. Nice to have the 2 for 1 because I have G card.

Willows and Pioneer are solid, fun courses.

You only buy golf courses if you want/have money to lose, or the asking price is cheap and you bulldoze it and make some sort of development. There is no money to be made buying the courses and keeping them, either public or private unless he has made some sort of deal with the devil. And from what I have heard on here about Deters, that’s quite possible.

It depends on what kind of country club Deters wants it to be. If he wants it to be Triple Crown or Summit Hills he will broke within a year. If he wants it to be like an Eagle Creek or something along those lines, then I think he will be fairly successful. I’m a member at Eagle Creek, and it’s not the toughest course, nor do the manicure every single blade of grass, but I love it and I play it just about everyday in the summertime. For the money, you can’t beat it. I honestly don’t understand why someone would play public courses in Nky when you could join a small country club.

i’ve always liked Fox for the first 16 holes. #17 & #18 to me, always felt like the designer ran out of space & crammed these last two in.

When it’s in good condition, it is nice to look at. And I can see how people may like it. But for me, it’s one of those courses that regularly turns good shots into bad shots. That being said, I’ll gladly play there with you if you’re paying ;-).

20 End of Year Teacher Gifts (That They’ll Use and Love!)

This post may contain affiliate links for your convenience. Read my full disclosure policy here.

Today marked the last day of school for my youngest kiddo, a bittersweet day for sure. My mom always sent in a plant for the teacher on the last day of school, and I’ve handed down the tradition to my kids too. My friend B. gave me the great idea of using an Anthropologie mug and filling it with goodies (she does personalized M&Ms, genius!) So I purchased mugs for the teachers and had my kids pick out the flowers to place inside. This simple idea was a hit, so I thought I’d share 20 other teacher gift ideas (as a former teacher, I can attest these are ones they’ll actually use!) from around the internets. Enjoy!

    2014 Graduation Dresses

Graduation season is upon us! If you have a graduating senior in your life, chances are you’ll be heading to a campus in the near, near future. Whether the ceremony is for a high school, an undergrad, or a graduate student, it’ll mark a major milestone; however, as an attendee, it’s not your time to shine.

The goal is to pick a fitting frock that errs on the side of demure—the sartorial equivalent to dressing for a baby or bridal shower, or wedding. But that’s not to say you can’t have fun! While the soon-to-be graduates will be cloaked in uniform caps and gowns, you can show some support for your diploma-receiving sibling, friend, or relative with a celebratory look.

Take a look at our on-point dresses (from flirty florals to sweet pinks) that will score you high marks among peers and faculty—promise!

The Ultimate Guide for Learning Spanish with Movies

+ 25 Short Films, Movies, Documentaries and Series

Learning a new language by reading books and memorizing grammar rules can get real boring, real quick.

Spicing up and improving your Spanish skills by watching your favorite movies or series is an excellent way to gain that motivation that keeps you going. Spanish movies are ideal additions to broadening your existing language skills in a quick and easy way, regardless of your Spanish proficiency level.

Here we have created a complete overview of how you can utilize Spanish cinema in the most effective and entertaining ways to help improve your overall knowledge of Spanish language.

    1. Why watch Spanish movies?
    2. How can you learn from Spanish movies?
    3. What should you watch?
      • Best movies to learn Spanish: Beginners (Level A)
      • Best movies to learn Spanish: Advanced (Level B)
      • Best movies to learn Spanish: Professional (Level C)
    4. Which online platforms can you use?
    5. Learn Spanish in Real Life

    Let’s see how it works!

    Learn with Films

    Why Watch Spanish Movies?

    Improve your vocabulary

Watching movies in Spanish is a great way to improve your language skills, by taking the words and phrases you’ve learned in class, and hear them in a different context. This will allow you to expand your vocabulary while understanding how it’s used in real-life situations.

    Make learning easy and memorable

Sure, it’s not easy to learn a new language, but by watching your favorite movies and series in Spanish, you can more easily memorize new words and phrases. Because you already know the plot and storyline of the movie, you can then turn your focus to learning the language. By taking the reins you can also decide the speed of your learning, as well as how often you want to learn.

And, who knows? Maybe one day you will need the phrases you learned in Breaking Bad or Narcos.

    Practice your listening skills

Remember when you heard Spanish for the first time? You probably noticed this language is a little faster than others.

By hearing different dialects of Spanish, you are able to practice your listening skills, learn the right pronunciations and get used to the natural flow of the language.

    Have fun!

There is no doubt in the entertaining factor of this method, but what’s even better is that our brains learn extremely fast when they’re having fun. That means our reward-system mechanisms will absorb knowledge like a sponge while watching Spanish movies.

How Can You Learn From Spanish movies?

Yes, this method of learning has a big entertainment value, but don’t just watch these Spanish movies for fun. Staying motivated is important here, so remember to actively study the movie or show you are watching by paying attention to the words being spoken and how to use these words in several situations.

Effectively learning Spanish through movies can be divided into 3 steps:

    1. Watch Spanish movies with the subtitles in your native language. While this isn’t the best way to learn new vocabulary, it is a great starting point to help you get a better feel for the movie.
    2. Change the subtitles into Spanish. Now you can hear and see the words at the same time, which makes it easier to understand them in context and is a more effective way to learn.
    3. Turn the subtitles off. You might not understand everything at the beginning, but after repeat viewings, you’ll be able to memorize the words and phrases.

And before you know it, you’ll be able to watch Spanish movies without any problems.

    What Should You Focus On?

    What should you focus on

    • Conversation
      • What is the organic flow of the conversation? Learn by seeing natives talk to each other as this is essentially different than the conversations you would have in a classroom.
    • Syntax
      • Give a clear message to your listener. You don’t want to sound like a robot repeating the sentences you’ve have learned from a textbook, so here you can learn how to switch up some words and change their order. But be careful! Switching up the wrong words can change the meaning entirely.
    • Pronounciation
      • Spanish is not the same everywhere. From city to city, country to country, the dialects can change significantly, so pay attention to which dialect the movie is set and be aware of its differences.
    • Grammar
      • Don’t worry if some aspects of grammar are a little too advanced for you. By watching Spanish movies, you’ll see how sentences are built and will be able to follow the same principles for your own conversations.
    • Break the movie down
      • It can be overwhelming to watch a whole Spanish movie and study it in one session. So why not divide your work? Work on a couple of scenes or segments of the movie so the language can be absorbed more effectively.
    • Get rhythm!
      • Repeat it! Watch these movies over and over again to help you memorize and learn more Spanish words. Watching a movie once won’t have the same effect, so if you really want to boost your Spanish proficiency, keep playing that movie on repeat.
    • You have to commit!
      • As you repeat your favourite Spanish movies, start talking along with the characters and copy their body language while speaking. This will help you learn the pronunciations and keep you engaged while watching.

    What Should You Watch?

People learn Spanish for different reasons, which means there will be different recommendations based on how you want to use your Spanish.

If you want to travel around a Spanish-speaking country, we recommend you watch Spanish documentaries about that special destination. If you want to learn Spanish from the beginning, try watching a short movie on YouTube. And if you want to widen your knowledge and vocabulary list, that’s when you should take on your favorite Spanish movies or series.

But take note! You shouldn’t expect to understand every word of the movie. If you’re a beginner, it’s best to stick to a non-Spanish movie dubbed in Spanish as the translators of the movie have to stick to a certain storyline, meaning the spoken words are reduced to the basics.

But whatever your level of Spanish, our team of experts have compiled a list of both Non-Spanish and Spanish movies that are guaranteed to improve your understanding of the language.

Best movies to learn Spanish: Beginner (Level A)

    Time for some nostalgia!

As you take on your journey of learning Spanish, we think one of the best ways to start out is to watch either movies of your childhood you love, or your favourite films!

Most of us have already seen famous movies like Lion King, Aladdin, Winnie the Pooh, Tarzan, Bambi, Hercules, Toy Story and all of us can relate to these movies. At first, this might seem weird but who would mind watching a film from his/her childhood with some fresh popcorn on the weekend for a nostalgic afternoon?

You already know the story, the lines, the context and it’s easy to focus on the language.

This actually applies to all of your favourite films – what you have seen a hundred times already. 🙂

    Back to the Future

Experiencing it is going to be surprisingly fun and you’ll learn and pick up words without noticing, unconsciously, at a warp speed, but it also takes time and effort.

If you are out of ideas, here are some more: Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurrasic Park, Fight Club, Pirates of the Caribbean, Iron Man.

As much as we like learning from films, we have to say it’s not easy and possibly not the most rewarding way to start out learning a language.

Think of this quote: “When eating an elephant, take one bite at a time.”

You may lose your motivation towards learning Spanish if you just jump into it. So first, we would advise watching these films in your native language with Spanish subtitles, and then change it up.

However, if you possess some Spanish knowledge already you might pick up some of the following films:

Best movies to learn Spanish: Advanced (Level B)

    1) El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan’s Labyrinth)

    El Laberinto del Fauno

Director Guillermo del Toros’ original Spanish movie follows the civil war in Spain, making it a wonderful choice to help with your Spanish vocabulary, learning “ser” and “estar“, as well as training in past and present tenses.

    2) El otro lado de la cama (The Other Side of the Bed)

Emilio Martínez Lázaros’ romantic comedy follows the lives of two young couples. The vocabulary and sentence structures here are not overly complicated, and is well-suited for Spanish learners.

    3) Tres bodas de mas (Three other weddings )

    3 bodas de más

Follow the story of Ruth, who is invited to three of her ex-boyfriends’ individual weddings within the same month. Again, the vocabulary is very learner-friendly as most sentences are simply structured.

    4) La comunidad (Alone among Neighbours)

In this black comedy about a murderous neighborhood, you will learn how to argue, get your opinions across, and state hypotheses in easy-to-understand Spanish.

    5) Los peores años de nuestra vida (The Worst Years of our Life)

Here you will learn how to express feelings, moods, beliefs and desires, while following the story of two brothers who fall in love with the same girl. In addition, the use of “ser” and “estar” are often repeated throughout the film.

    6) AzulOscuroCasiNegro (Deep Blue Almost Black)

Daniel Sanchez Arevalo’s film is ideal for learning the vocabulary of young people and to deepen your knowledge about the Spanish Society and its’ youth culture as this film deals a lot with many different types of relationships.

    7) Hable con ella (Talk to Her)

    Hable con Ella

A Spanish movie about the impossible love between a sensitive male nurse and a comatose ballet dancer will help you to expand your vocabulary and express your feelings.

    8) Te doy mis ojos (Take my Eyes )

Rousing and dark, this story of a woman who find the courage to leave her abusive husband is ideal in helping you improve the tenses of Spanish language.

    9) Ocho Apellidos Vascos (8 Names for Love)

This comedy about political activism will help you learn the cultural differences between northern and southern Spain, while also helping you to distinguish between linguistic differences.

Best movies to learn Spanish: Professional (Level C)

    1) Mar Adentro (The Sea Inside)

    Mar Adentro

This Spanish film is based on the real story of Ramón Sampedro, who fights for the right to euthanasia after becoming crippled in a devastating diving accident. Here you will learn the proper use of Imperativo, Subjuntivo and Pasado.

    2) El secreto de sus ojos (In your Eyes)

    El secreto de sus ojos

Here you will learn to master the past tenses as you follow a retired detective, Benjamín Espósito, who writes a novel based on the unsolved rape and murder of a newly married woman.

    3) Belle Epoque (Season of Love)

    Belle Epoque

The film by Fernando Trueba is about a transpiring love that takes place before the Spanish Civil War. With it, you’ll learn about social structures and vocabulary embedded in historical Spanish context.

    4) Todo sobre mi madre (All About my mother)

    Todo sobre mi madre

The tragic film of Pedro Almodóvar tells the story of a mother who seeks out her son’s father to tell him of the child’s existence as well as his death. But what she doesn’t know is that this father has since undergone a sex change operation. This Spanish movie will therefore extend your knowledge to subordinate clauses and colloquial language.

    5) Relatos salvajes (Wild Tales)

    Relatos Salvajes

This black comedy deals with various extremes of human behaviours throughout 6 continuous episodes, and is considered quite a challenge for Spanish speakers, putting your Spanish knowledge to the test.

(UPDATED 2018!) How to Renew or Apply for Philippine Passport

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

by PinoyMoneyTalk in News & Current Events

The validity of Philippine passports is now ten (10) years. Are you looking to apply for a new one or to renew your existing passport? Follow this simple step-by-step guide so you can get your Philippine passport right away.

Step 1. Set an appointment online

Unlike in the past, you need not line up for hours anymore just to renew or to get a new passport. An appointment beforehand is required and your application will not be processed if you do not have one. (There are exceptions, though, so keep reading.)

Based on our experience, the online appointment schedules get easily filled up and the next available date may be months away. We recently visited the online passport appointment website and the earliest available schedule we found was three months from now!

There are two ways to set an appointment with the Department of Foreign Affairs:

    1. Book an online appointment here: DFA Passport Online Appointment System
    2. Call the DFA Appointment Hotline at (02) 737-1000 anytime from Monday to Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm

    PASSPORT APPOINTMENT EXEMPTIONS

Take note that passport appointment is NOT REQUIRED if you are a/an:

    • OFW with proof of status, such as iDOLE card, work visa, or employment contract
    • Senior Citizen with Senior Citizen ID
    • Person with Disability (PWDs) with PWD ID or visible disability
    • Solo Parent with Valid Solo Parent ID
    • Pregnant woman with medical certificate
    • Minor aged seven (7) years old and below

If you qualify above, you may simply visit and avail of the Priority Lane at DFA Aseana or at any DFA Satellite Office or Regional Consular Office to apply. DFA usually allows a companion to go with them who can also apply to get a passport via the Priority Lane.

Take note that passport appointment is FREE. The DFA is discouraging applicants from securing online appointment using fixers who charge a fee.

In Metro Manila, applicants may choose to apply to get a passport in one of six DFA branches. Here are the addresses of the DFA main office and satellite offices in NCR:

    1. DFA Manila – ASEANA (ASEANA Business Park, Bradco Avenue corner Macapagal Boulevard, Parañaque City)
    2. DFA NCR East – SM Megamall (7th Floor, Building C, SM Megamall, EDSA cor. J. Vargas Ave., Mandaluyong City)
    3. DFA NCR North – Robinsons Novaliches (Quirino Highway, Novaliches, Quezon City, 1118 Metro Manila; across SM City Fairview)
    4. DFA NCR North East – Ali Mall (Ali Mall Government Center, Level 2 Ali Mall, Cubao, Quezon City)
    5. DFA NCR South – Alabang (4th Floor, Metro Alabang Town Center, Alabang, Zapote Road, Muntinlupa City)
    6. DFA NCR West – SM Manila (5th Floor, SM City Manila, Conception St., Manila)

Those in the provinces may choose to visit the DFA regional consular office near them.

Step 2: Prepare all required documents

Make sure you are ready with all required documents before showing up on your appointment date. The required documents that all applicants must bring include:

    • printout of your Application Form (download link is emailed to you after completing the online application);
    • at least one (1) government-issued ID to prove identity (may be driver’s license, SSS or GSIS ID, PRC ID, OWWA ID, etc.); and
    • old passport (for renewal application)

There is no need to bring passport-size photos anymore because photo capture will be done at the DFA branch on your appointment date.

Take note that other documents may be required in the following cases:

    • newly-married woman applying for the first time under the new surname
    • spouse of a foreign national
    • minors (below 18 years old)
    • Muslim applicants

Complete documentary requirements for such applicants can be found here .

Step 3: Show up on your appointment date with the required documents

On your approved appointment date, make a personal appearance at your chosen DFA branch at least 30 minutes before the appointment time.

Present your printed application form to the Appointment Counter, get a queue number and wait for your number to be called.

Once called, proceed to the “Processing” counter where a staff will validate your application.

Step 4: Pay the passport processing fee

Once your application is confirmed, proceed to the “Payment” counter to pay the passport processing fee.

The processing fee for passports with 10-year validity is P950.00 for regular processing (15 working days if in NCR; 20 working days if outside NCR), while for express processing, the fee is P1,200.00.

If you need your passport asap, have it expedited so choose Express Processing to get your new passport within 7 business days (if within Metro Manila) or 10 business days (if outside NCR).

Also, passport applications processed on a Saturday are charged P1,200.00.

    Passport Application and Processing Fees

    Application VenueRegularExpedite (Quick processing)
DFA Aseana and Consular offices (within Metro Manila)PHP 950.00
    (15 business days)
    PHP 1,200.00
    (7 business days)
DFA Consular offices (outside Metro Manila)PHP 950.00
    (20 business days)
    PHP 1,200.00
    (10 business days)
    Foreign Service Posts (outside Philippines)US$60.00
    (28-60 days)

Step 5: Proceed to “Encoding” section for photo and data capture

This is the last step in the processing of your passport. Your photo is taken, your fingerprints are captured, and your basic personal information are stored in the system.

Unfortunately, this could last a few minutes or some hours if there are several applicants also waiting for their turn.

Some rules when taking the photo:

    • No smiling!
    • You must close your mouth, your teeth cannot show, and you must have a “poker-face” expression!
    • Eyeglasses and contact lens must be removed.
    • Look directly at the camera.

That’s it! They will then inform you when your passport will be ready. This is also written in the payment receipt given to you.

Step 6 (Optional): Have your passport delivered to your home

New passports may be picked up at the “Passport Releasing” counter of the DFA office where you submitted your application. Just show the receipt to the person in the “Passport Releasing” section.

If you don’t want to pick up your passport, you may choose to have it delivered straight to your doorsteps.

Just pay the delivery fee in the “Courier” or “Delivery” counter before you leave the DFA premises. They will inform you about the exact date when the passport will be delivered to you. Delivery usually takes 1-2 weeks after your application.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What’s the difference between Individual and Group Appointment?

Individual appointment refers to a single applicant and a single slot reservation only.

For group appointment, applicants can range from a group of 2 to 5 and will be assigned different appointment codes.

Can I change my appointment date or the DFA application site?

You may change your preferred date and schedule via the “Reschedule” feature. Click on “Schedule Appointment->View Appointment” in the www.passport.gov.ph. Your received Appointment Code and email address is needed in order to View or Reschedule your appointment.

I did not receive any email notification.

Depending on your email provider and configuration settings, the system-generated email may be incorrectly tagged as spam and delivered to your Junk or Spam folder. Check your spam folder for emails if no message appears in your Inbox a few minutes after you submitted your application online.

The system also advises that email addresses from Hotmail, Live, MSN, and Outlook will not receive email confirmation due to technical incompatibilities. Gmail or Yahoo! accounts are recommended for the time being.

It’s also possible that you did not receive an email confirmation because you submitted a wrong or invalid email address (see next FAQ).

I used a wrong or invalid email address.

If you submitted an incorrect or invalid email address, you won’t be able to receive the confirmation email which you’ll need to confirm your appointment and to receive your Appointment Code. Your reserved appointment will be cancelled after 5 days. Only after 5 days will you be able to re-apply.

The system says I already have an appointment but I did not receive any confirmation email or Appointment Code.

This happened to me when I applied. Apparently what happened was I mistyped my email address so upon submission of the form, I did not receive the confirmation email. Upon realizing this, I tried to re-apply but the system apparently recognized that I have already submitted an application and told me I already have an appointment.

In such a case, you would have to wait 5 days for the appointment to be canceled. True enough, on the 6th day after I submitted my online application, I was able to apply again.

I don’t know my Appointment Code.

This is included in the email sent to the email address you submitted. Please check again the email you received.

If you apply now through appointment the available slot is at the end of June. Their processing for rush is 10days. So you need a new passport now but you will get it only after more than one month. Here in Malaysia it used to take 0ne week for them to get a passport using manual process while in PH it was taking only one day if you come in the morning and next day if you come after lunch using the manual process. When Malaysia shifted to electronic and machine readable passports they can release passports in 30 minutes. In Philippines after they shift to electronic passport it is taking 10 days to two months to get a passport.

I already applied and had a confirmed appointment for my passport but upon printing my reference copy I noticed that there was an error in the present occupation and work address part because as I understood, * marked boxes are required since the box for the occupation part wasn’t emphasized by a RED * sign I left it blank however the part for the Organ Donation part and the be notified in case of…., I filled it out. My present occupation part box and the work address was filled in and it has present occupation and work address of the person to be notified. How can I work out the necessary corrections before my personal appearance date? Thanks! Badly needing help here.

Please do some assisting… Please I need this passport immediately for processing our papers going to US. Ilang beses na akong nakakuha ng slots this year for my family last January and now April. Lahat yun a week before the appointment. I can get earlier pa dun. My advice sa mga gustong makakuha ng slot is to check their website regularly. And ito ang dapat nyong abangan:

My advice is to check for it during waking hours (kung kelan tayo gising at may time para magcancel/resched ng appointment). Tingin nyo kung kayo ang magccancel ng appointment mga anong oras kaya? Paunahan nalang sa pagpapasched kasi paisa isa lang ito.

      2. Mass slots from DFA – nagoopen ng maraming slots ang DFA randomly. Nakatsempo ako this January, lahat ng location may available na slots for the month of Jan-June. 11pm onwards ako nagcheck. Hindi sabay sabay na nag oopen yung slots sa lahat ng location (pdeng Aseana muna, then after several mins. sa Manila nmn etc). And then today April 4 11 pm onwards, nag-open sila ng slots for the month of April(10-30), lahat din ng oras open sa lahat ng site location nila. Madalas kong icheck ang website nila (to outwit them), kaya masasabi kong random day ito. My advice is lagi nyong icheck ang website nila, around 11pm-3am (based on my experience). AND!! pag natsempuhan nyong may isang location na maraming open na slot for the same month, wag na kayong umalis sa website nila. haha. the following mins. or hour mag oopen na rin ang ibang location. tyaga lang po kung gusto nyong makakuha ng maaga at malapit na slot sa location nyo. di nyo na po kailangang gumastos tyaga lang po talaga.

Additional advice, pag may nakita kayong slot kunin nyo na (be sure na makakapunta kayo sa day na yun) kahit medyo malayo yung lugar pero willing kayong puntahan o kaya nmn matagal pa yung date. KUNIN NIYO NA. mas ok na may slot na kayo kesa sa wala. Then, before your appointment mag abang kayo ng mas maaga or mas malapit na location at ireschedule nyo na lang appointment nyo. Make sure to confirm it on your email.

      Hope this will help..

I cannot just cancel this appointment because it’s really difficult to get new available schedule.

      1. Janey says: Jul 06, 2018

Pwede nyo pong ipacorrect yan sa dfa mismo. Before ka magproceed sa process, they check it for corrections. So sabihan mo lang sila sa gusto mong ipa-corect.

The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines maintains an office in Los Angeles, California, where citizens of the Philippines may visit in person to renew a passport that remains valid for less than one year.

    Walk-Ins

The consulate is located at the Equitable Plaza Building, 3435 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 550 in the Koreatown district of Los Angeles. No appointment is necessary; applicants are seen on a walk-in basis during office hours, typically from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on holidays.

    Know When to Renew

The consulate suggests keeping track of a passport’s one-year expiration date as the date approaches. The renewal processing time takes 10 weeks, so it is recommended to renew before a Philippines-issued passport is eight months from its expiration date. The procedure requires a personal appearance with certain documents in hand, including a completed application and a current passport. Additional documents and supporting personal appearances may be necessary in some cases.

    New Digital Passport System

Newly designed and chip-enabled Philippine ePassports use face recognition technology and fingerprints to verify the identity of the passport holder. A new passport design with enhanced security was introduced in January 2016.

    Passport Photos

Passport photos for the new digitalized passport are taken at the consulate. Applicants are reminded not to bring a photo as it cannot be used. The consulate advises that you wear decent attire – no sleeveless or collarless clothing – and no eyeglasses or contact lenses. No facial piercings are allowed.

    Passport Mailing Envelopes

To save time, passport applicants should bring a self-addressed stamped envelope. USPS Priority Mail Express envelopes are recommended, as they provide a tracking number. USPS mailing envelopes are no longer available at the Philippine Consulate General.

    Special Cases

Some Philippine citizens may need additional paperwork, such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate or a green card for a passport renewal. In some cases, additional personal appearances are necessary, including:

    • dual citizens
    • holders of Philippine passports issued prior to May 1, 1995
    • holders of green or brown Philippine passports issued after May 1, 1995 without a chip logo
    • minors
    • adopted applicants
    • married women using husband’s surname for the first time
    • married women wishing to revert to maiden name following spouse’s death or divorce

    Passport Fees and Assistance

The processing fee for a passport renewal is about $60 payable in cash, U.S. Postal Money Order or cashier’s check made out to the consulate. Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted. Additional questions should be addressed via email at [email protected] The Duty Officer at the Consulate General of the Philippines in Los Angeles can be reached by calling 213-268-9990.
