DynEd Reaction Paper

The part of the
DynEd Enhancement Program which I liked best were both the “Video Interaction”
and the “Speech Practice”. I am excited everytime I take these parts because I
was fond of listening to myself – my accent and my pronunciation to each word,
of how I deliver a sentence even though there had no microphone in the DynEd
laboratory.
The DynEd program
was really a big help in improving my communication skills in English. It’s
very interactive and it’s just between me and the computer so I’m not shy. This
taught me more about tenses and I also learned how to tell time and locations.
I am really confused of how and when to use prepositions like at, in, on, to,
through, etc. especially in telling time and locations. Now, well I am still
having a hard time but not as much as before.
I have nothing to
suggest or comment because I was satisfied with how DynEd teaches us students
and I like it just the way it is.
Overall, I really
enjoyed the experience and I can’t wait for ENG202 so that I can spend time
with it again. Thanks and great job for whoever thought and developed the DynEd
program. I really like it. Two thumbs up for you guys!

THE LOST SECRET (Film Critic)

1.Summary             A
man loses his memory and almost dies when he jumps from a bridge, thinking that
he is a bird and that he can fly. On the police station, he meets Inspector
Marvin who asks him questions like “What is your name?” but all he answers is
“I can’t remember”. Inspector Marvin then
calls Dr. Roberts to help him bring back the memory of the man. They start
recovering the memory of the man through a pen where a name “Sabina” was
engraved. Then, slowly by slowly, the man remembers who he is. He is Dr. Ross
Orwell, an archeologist who travels to England to work on something. He says to Dr. Roberts
that Sabina is the woman whom he met on the airplane and offered him a ride to
his hotel, together with her friend Professor Basil Sline. Later did he know
that Sline stole his manuscript and the Telo plant he was supposed to study. Sline became interested
to the book Dr. Orwell had written two years ago about the Mepatecs and he
wants to know what more does Dr. Orwell knows. Becaus…

“The Bridge” Reaction Paper

Having
to sacrifice and lose a very special thing or person in our lives may not be a
very bad happening at all. Rather, it could be the start of something better in
our lives or others’ lives. Remember that life is full of choices and in order
to make the right decision we have to think twice not just for ourselves but
for others who will be affected by our choice also. Just like God and the man
in the video entitled “The Bridge” did. They both chose to save the majority of
the people than the lives of their sons. But even though they lost their sons,
they had given those people another chance to live a better life. And those
people are thankful to them. Everything that happens in our lives have reasons,
and God assures to you that it is for the best.

Abstract: This paper discusses the effectiveness of using a computer assisted language
learning (CALL) software, DynEd, in different grade levels at secondary schools in Bursa,
Turkey. Over 400 students were given pretest and posttest with 114 students attendeding the
both. Data were gathered during Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 semesters. The results of the study
revealed that DynEd is not utilized by the students as much as wanted. Two types of DynEd
activities (lesson presentations and problem solving) significantly predicted student growth
scores but these activities contradicted with each other
. These findings lead to question the
continuation of the fierce campaign for DynEd. Should it be reconsidered?

Introduction
Today, as a result of technological developments, there are significant improvements in the field of
education and training and in the use of computer-aided instructional materials in almost every discipline.
English education requires more and more effective training materials with respect to other courses, because it
includes reading, writing, listening and speaking elements. Since 1950’s, many approaches and methods have
been applied on foreign language teaching because of the intense interest. Most of these focused on using
technology to develop more effective language teaching. In addition to that, many approaches and methods have
been developed to individualize instruction. One of the methods used for these purposes is the computer assisted
instruction (Odabaı, 1994).
Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)
Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) is the use of computers in the teaching and learning process. In
CAI the student interacts directly with the computer which presents the instructional material and controls its
sequence. In general, if computer is used for language teaching and learning process, it is called as Computer
Assisted Language Learning (CALL) (Torut, 2000). Levy (1997) defined CALL as the search for and study of
applications of the computer in language teaching and learning.” Egbert (2005) stated that CALL means
learners learning language in any context with, through, and around computer technologies.
When the historical development of CALL is investigated, it is found that there are four phases as
Behavioristic, Communicative, Integrative and Intelligent (Warschauer, 1996, 1998). Each phase covers the
previous one. The last two stages are the focus of the current paper. Both integrative and intelligent stages focus
on Communicative Language Teaching, which use of authentic, meaningful contextualized materials. The
former uses advantages of multimedia CD-ROMS (text, sound, video, etc.), however the later focus on using the
internet applications (e-mail, www, FTP, etc.) for communicative language teaching. Learner can construct their
own way by using variety of sources integrated with four language skills (Warschauer, 1998; Torut, 2000).
The rapid developments in technology cause improvements on the features of computers. This leads to
increase in using computers in education, especially language learning. There are numerous advantages of using
CALL. Some of the CALL ensures motivation for learning, using some features like audio, video, sound, text,
– 3208 –
graphic motivate learners (Torut, 2000; Lee, 2000). Kinds of media are used to study listening, writing, speaking
and reading in intrinsic learning environment. CALL introduces different opportunities like dictionary, glossary,
grimmer, listening, exercises, etc… Therefore, users can draw his/herown path. Because of this, CALL can offer
individualized learning environment (Chapelle & Jamieson, 1986; Warschauer, 1996; Torre, 1999; Torut,
2000). In this case slow learners can repeat whenever they wish. In addition to that, fast learners can be
accelerated by offering variety of activities at the same time. CALL offers greater interaction of users with as
well as learning materials, with teacher and peers even when they are geographically separated from each other.
So, this may led shy students to interact more. (Warschauer, 1996; Torut, 2000; Lee, 2000; ).Lai and Kritsonis
(2006) stated that CALL (1) can strengthen the second language learner’s linguistics skills, (2) affect their
attitude towards language learning and attitude towards computer (Ates, Altunay & Altun, 2006) and (3) build
their self-instruction strategies and self-confidence through various communicative and interactive activities.
The researches done to determine the level of effectiveness of CALL for English teaching indicates that
computer-aided instruction in English is more effective than traditional methods and the students indicated that
they learned better and faster by using computers (Chapelle & Jamieson, 1986; Koçak, 1997; Levy, 1997; Fleta,
et al., 1999; Gömleksiz & Dümez, 2005).
A case study was conducted to evaluate multimedia programs for language learning in Spain by Fleta,
et al. (1999). In their study, students can determine the goals, content, methodology and assessment to
individualize English learning. Before the study, a questionnaire was applied to select commercial programs
according to the technical quality and the pedagogical quality. There were two groups of 25 students, all familiar
with the use of computers, studying the subject. The subject was studied on a weekly basis of fourteen two-hour
sessions. At the beginning of the study the students took an initial test to assess their knowledge of English. On
the basis of their results, students were assisgned to different learning groups. Achievement test was
administered to assess their progress after completing the course. It was found that all of the participants
increased their grades considerably in language competency, vocabulary acquisition and listening
comprehension.
A qualitative research conducted by Gömleksiz and Dümez (2005) examined the effectiveness of
CALL on eighth grade students’ achievement in teaching relative clause compared to the traditional method.
This research revealed that at the end of a four-week experimental study, it was found that there was a
significant difference on post test scores of both groups (p = 0,043). CALL used in experimental group was
more efficient in reaching the objectives at knowledge and comprehension levels of cognitive domain. It was
found that experimental group students were more successful in learning “relative clause” than controlled group
students.
Hui et al. (2008) studied the effectiveness of a specific technology-assisted English language learning
platform. Achievements of students in English course with respect to listening comprehension, vocabulary and
grammar were compared in technology-assisted and face-to-face learning. The target course is offered in
multiple sessions, and students were assigned to different sessions according to their class schedules. The
subject of the study was 438 first-year students in a university in Hong Kong. The control-group subjects met in
the classroom twice as often as did the treatment-group subjects but had no access to the course Web site
throughout the semester. It is found that CALL has a significant effect on students’ performance with regard to
listening comprehension and vocabulary. Control group achieves better performance in listening than
experimental group, but the experimental group exposes enhanced vocabulary skills. Furthermore, the
experimental group performs better for grammar skills than the control group, but the difference is not
statistically significant. It can be concluded that CALL can scale up certain aspects of language learning.
Problems about Language Learning in Turkey
Today, technological developments and scientific advances in research are made in abroad, mostly in
Europe, America or the Far East countries. In order to follow the improvements in science, at least one foreign
language should be learned. Because of globalization and spread of English, Turkey has selected English in its
foreign language policy in the domain of foreign language education, particularly the increased importance of
English in primary, secondary, and higher education (Kirkgöz, 2009). English is a compulsory foreign language
at Turkish schools. Despite the importance of education to economic and social development, and being
compulsory, today the Turkish education system faced to some problems due to both in structuring, in its
management and operation (Gedikliolu, 2005). Foreign language education are launched from the expected
– 3209 –
success is based on several reasons. At the level of program development, education, adoption of modern
understanding of program development and not giving enough space to program development activities, are
some of the factors negatively affecting the teaching of foreign languages (Yaar, 1990). There are
inconsistencies in the quality of instruction offered, the types of materials used as well as qualifications of the
teachers (Kirkgöz 2007). In addition, the adoption of the concept of traditional teaching, crowded classrooms,
lack of tools, methods and techniques used in foreign language teaching and the students' individual
characteristics are not taken into account can be listed as negative factors (Gömleksiz & Dümez, 2005).
Due to the reasons mentioned above, the Ministry of Education of Turkey has decided to find solutions
and looked into ways to use technology. In 2006, the Ministry of Education signed a protocol to get English
Language Education Software called DynEd that uses the advantages of multimedia and CALL. DynEd was
planned to be adapted to the curricula in a blended model a blend of computer and the classroom. During
2007-2008 education years, a pilot study had applied to 4
th
to 8
th
grade students on more than 11.000 primary
schools. It is being used since 2008-2009 education years.
On this same issue, a former study conducted by the authors on DynEd system showed that students in
primary schools in Bursa have access to the Internet and they know how to use the computer at an early age. 4th
to 8th grade students have adequate computer literacy to use CALL software (Sengel, Goktalay, Oncu, 2009).
There is a need for a systematic exploration of the learners' interface with hypermedia in order to reveal
their interactions with hypermedia learning systems. However, when research conducted to investigate the
effectiveness of hypermedia studies in English language education and when the problems exist in Turkey are
considered, it is observed that there is a need to investigate how a hypermedia program should be used in a
hypermedia information system. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of an English
Language Education Software (DynEd) in a language course on students’ achievement. Another purpose of this
study is to obtain information about which part of the DynEd program is more effective on achievement of
students. This exploratory study provides a quantitative report on the integration of a specific information
system into the curriculum using authentic tasks in a class setting. As far as we know there has not been any
academic study since the DynEd program was put into practice. This study will be the first academic study and it
may contribute to application process in order to improve language learning of primary/secondary school
students.
Research Questions
Based on the above information, this study investigates the effects of DynEd program on secondary
school students. The specific research questions that were examined regardless of the grade levels include the
following:
1. How much the DynEd program is utilized by the students?
2. What DynEd activities do students attend the most?
3. Does DynEd affect student achievement in general?
Methodology
This study was conducted between Fall 2009 and Spring 2010. Participants were the students enrolled
in different grade levels in a secondary school in Bursa. The school teachers had reported that they encourage
their students to use DynEd.
What is DynEd and what are the benefits of using DynEd?
DynEd English Language Education System is a useful tool for the students in order to learn English
working on the main server that has been set up in the Ministry of National Education. It is thought that DynEd
English Language Education System supports the English teaching programs in the primary and secondary
schools. Moreover, that the program provides a unique opportunity for the students to study at schools or home
in front of the computer, the teachers can monitor the students’ practices and guide them are all acknowledged.
– 3210 –
It has been planned that students’ practices are going to be recorded into the servers, which will be set up within
the scope of Ministry of National Education.
DynEd, as it is a computer-assisted and interactive system, is thought to have contribution to the
students’ learning process. It is expected that the students whose learning styles are different are going to get the
advantage of using such software that appeals to the lots of sense organs in the frame of the theory of Multiple
Intelligences. Based on this expectancy, learning is going to be meaningful and permanent. There is also the
expectancy that the students will have an enormous opportunity to learn English accurately as the program is
based on providing reading, writing, listening, and speaking but not grammar-based language education. That
the students use the program in an effective way, relies on the prospect of using the computer easily.
Instruments
Students were given a pretest at the beginning of fall semester. The exam (pretest) consisted of 40
questions targeting to measure the students’ English proficiency levels in line with the topics that would be
covered in fall and spring semesters of the respective grade level. Researchers also applied a posttest at the end
of spring semester. The pretest and the posttest had the same questions in order to allow determining growth in
success. A survey instrument was also incorporated into the posttest. The survey consisted of questions inquiring
the self-reported usage statistics such as the frequency of using DynEd, how the students access DynEd and what
purposes DynEd is used for.
The exam scores and the survey questions were developed by the authors in line with various English
course books. The test contains 40 multiple-choice questions with four options. The questions were written in
compliance with the course objectives stated in different learning levels in the cognitive domain (Bloom, 1956).
In order to be sure about the result of the test, more than one question was asked about the same objective of
each topic. Instruments were checked by at least five subject matter experts who are current English language
teachers in secondary schools. The researchers themselves are also English speakers with excellent fluency. The
survey questions were inquiring simple facts rather than perceived, complex understandings required by the
students. These were factors contributing to the assurance of the internal validity and the reliability of the
instruments.
Data Analysis
First, simple descriptive statistics were employed to respond to the first and second research questions.
Frequencies and mean scores were reported based on data gathered from the students. Then, regression and
ANOVA analyses were utilized to explore the potential relationships between growth in success and the other
contributing variables in response to the last research question.
Results
A total of 257 students took the pretest and 271 students took the posttest. There were 114 students
who took both the pretest and the posttest. Students were from different grade levels and from different sections
as shown in Table 1. There were no sixth grade students taking the pretest; this makes them to be excluded from
the results that apply to students taking both tests. Similarly some sections either did not participate in the pretest
or posttest.

Table 1. Secondary school students participating in the study
The first research question is interested in how much the DynEd program is used overall. This statistics
were obtained from the posttest, with the survey questions. In order to identify the students who were not using
DynEd, the researchers checked if the students were reporting any DynEd activity such as using DynEd for
listening practices or using DynEd for problem solving. If the student did not check any of those activities, s/he
was coded as not using DynEd. The results showed although encouraged by their instructors, only about half of
the students were interested in studying (the last column in Table 2) DynEd on their own.

Table 2. Number of students using DynEd (frequency of use is omitted)
Students were asked to identify how often they use DynEd. Subjects who use DynEd and who
responded to this question (N = 96) were presented in Figure 1. According to the figure, majority of the students
(35%) participate in DynEd at least once a week. A substantial amount of students participate daily (9%).
Figure 1. Frequency of participants' DynEd usage.
The second research question was interested in identifying what activities students do in DynEd most
often. As mentioned earlier, self-reported scores were obtained for lesson presentations, problem solving,
listening, and speech recording that are all part of the package DynEd offers to the students (see Table 3).
Students were asked to mark how often they were performing those activities in DynEd. The response items
were in Likert scale where 1 = not at all, 2 = sometimes, 3 = often, and 4 = very often.

Table 3. The students do most in DynEd*
Problem solving and listening activities appeared to be the most preferred two activities. Considering
that the mid-point would be 2.50, all the mean scores appear below the average, indicating that even the most
preferred activity is not being performed as much often.
The last research question sought to characterize whether DynEd affects student achievement in
general? In order to find out whether using DynEd affects students’ success rates that are calculated from the
difference between the pre and post test scores, a one way ANOVA was run where the achievement score was
the dependent variable and the student reported use statistics was the independent variable (used DynEd or not).
Table 4 shows the mean difference scores and the standard deviations along with other related information.
The number of students who used (N=37) and not used (N=77) DynEd was distributed fairly well to
establish sub groups. There were 37 students who took both tests and also reported that they have been using
DynEd. Levene’s test of homogeneity of variances showed no significant differences between the subgroups of
the independent variable (Levene statistic = 1.332, p>.05) meaning that the difference in the variance between
the subgroups can be omitted. The results showed that there were no significant difference between the
achievement scores of students who reportedly have used DynEd and the ones that have not (F=.126, df=1,
p>.05).

Table 5. Predicting the growth in student achievement from the DynEd related activities.

The results showed that the regression model could be significantly built (R=.311, ANOVA: F=2.561,
df=4, p<.05) with the specified independent and dependent variables. Table 5 summarizes the information
regarding the regression analysis. This way, it is proper to say that the information about using DynEd alone
may not significantly affect students’ achievement scores based on the student reported usage statistics but the
type of activity students engage in the DynEd system affects their achievement.
Discussion and Conclusions
Use of computer supported language learning tools is rapidly populating in the secondary education.
Many studies find links between CALL tools and student success, and most of them report positive links. This
study focused on CALL software called DynEd that is widely utilized in Turkey. Of course the intent behind
utilizing such a wide distribution of DynEd is to impact the student achievement. However, the complaints the
authors’ have received from the English language teachers via personnel communication and consequently the
speculation that DynEd system may not be as much an effective system led to the conduction of this study.
In a former study (Sengel, Goktalay, Oncu, 2009), the authors showed that the potential users of the
DynEd software, the secondary school students, are computer literate enough to follow and conduct DynEd
activities on computer. On the other hand, being a computer literate is not a sufficient enough indication for the
success of the system. This study indicates that the DynEd software is not utilized by the students as much as
wanted. Even the variables that significantly predict achievement (problem solving and presentation) have low
mean scores indicating that students are not really performing those activities much. The authors tested whether
being a user of the DynEd system have anything to do with students’ success. It appeared that it is not about
whether you use DynEd, it is about how you use DynEd that matters. However, according to the results, the two
significantly influential type of DynEd activities clash with each other in this manner. Students who favor
problem solving activities appear to gain more from pretest to posttest; on the other hand, students who favor
presentations appear to go worse from pretest to posttest. And the weights of these two variables in predicting
the test scores is close to each other. This may be the reason why a significant and direct relationship between
the student growth scores and the DynEd usage statistics could not be conceived. Not only is this result
obtained, but also the fact that the identified significant relationships account for a small portion of the
population (about 10 percent when considering R=.311 and R2=.096). These findings lead to the speculation
that the DynEd software may have been put in use without a through pilot study (at least we are not able to reach
to a published study leading to such a result).
The results depend on the students’ perceived self-reports of how they use DynEd. A part of the
unsuccessful linkage may have resulted from the biased reports of students. It is known that self-reported data is
not as reliable as other more concrete data collection methods such as directly observing the students to
determine how much they were using the software. On the other hand, the more concrete methods are not usually
practical. Self-reports are widely used in the educational literature. This was the case in the current study, too
obtaining data the other way around was not practically possible. An objective, building on the current study,
would be to repeat it with more concrete data collection methods.
The school where the data was obtained is a regular, public secondary school. It is neither too far
(rural) from the downtown Bursa, nor it is too central that could potentially make it an out of the ordinary
school. Therefore, the findings are potentially representative of the settings that are described above. This study
utilized the first available data that were coded from the paper based pretest, posttest and survey items to the
electronic format. The data is still being coded and analyzed. As the research continues, the findings will
potentially be generalizable to a wider audience with improved confidence.

            Intimate couple

We’ve all had them—questions we were too afraid to ask our parents or friends. With our society being relatively tight-lipped on the subject of sex, it’s no surprise that many of our unanswered questions come from our private lives. Don’t worry; you can get some answers without ever having to ask! We’ve picked out a handful of some common questions to save you the trouble.

            1) Is it Normal to Pass Gas During Sex?

One question a lot of women are afraid to ask is whether it’s normal to pass gas during intercourse. A little gas during an orgasm is perfectly normal, although that doesn’t mean it won’t still be a little embarrassed when it happens. When you orgasm, all the muscles in your genitals relax, making it easier for gas in your digestive system to pass through. If this is highly uncomfortable for you, you can try some gas tablets with simethicone in it before you are planning sex.

            2) Can Kegel Exercises Lead to Better Sex?

Absolutely! The stronger the muscles in your genital area (called pubococcygeus) are, the more intense your orgasm will be. This also helps strengthen everything from your anus to your vagina, urethra, and bladder.

The first step is to locate these muscles. Try stopping your urine flow while you are going to the bathroom. Start and stop it several times, holding it as long as you can before releasing it. Don’t do them regularly while urinating, as this can cause urinary issues, but try doing these while you are sitting at your desk, 50 to 150 times.

            3) Will My Vagina Be Noticeably Less Tight After I’ve Had a Baby?

            Pregnant woman

Believe it or not, the tightness of your vagina has nothing to do with age or body type. If you’ve had an overly large baby, your vagina might be a little looser, but by doing kegel exercises, you can strengthen those muscles again.

            4) Why Can’t I Orgasm During Sex?

Believe it or not, about 10% of women have never had an orgasm from vaginal intercourse alone. Plain old vaginal sex does not necessarily hit a woman’s nerve centers in the right way; there are a lot of women who cannot have an orgasm without clitoral stimulation. There is nothing wrong with you or your partner. Just talk to them about it and have a conversation about what you would like to change in your sex life. Make sure he or she is revving up your engine to high throttle beforehand and you are more likely to orgasm during sex. Amp up the foreplay. Get out the toys. Use lubricant. All of these things might help push you over the edge into that mind-blowing orgasm.

            5) What Is a Normal Amount of Orgasms?

There is no normal. Women have been known to have as little as one to having multiple. I say if your partner is really into your pleasure, he or she will be more willing to make sure you’ve had multiple orgasms before penetration. The big thing is talk to your partner. I can’t stress that enough. Find out what he likes to do. Does he enjoy giving oral sex or does he feel like it’s a chore? Does he like to watch you pleasure yourself? Many men are turned on by this. Is he or she willing experiment in new positions or playing with enhancement items such as dildos, vibrators, blindfolds, or restraints. If you want to try restraints, be sure you play safely and have a pair of heavy bandage scissors close by in case there is a need for quick release.

            6) Why Do I Feel Like I Have to Pee?

This is a good thing! If you have the sensation that you need to urinate, it means he’s hitting the right spot and you should be having an orgasm soon. In retrospect, you might do what is called “squirting.” Researchers argue whether this action is really urine or the fluids produced in the vagina to lubricate the area for penetration. Whatever it is, go with it because it’s perfectly normal usually means you’re going the right direction.

            7) Is There Something Wrong with Me if I Get Turned On by Watching Other People Have Sex?

Actually no, this is very normal. There are lots of men and women both who enjoy watching pornography as a way to get turned on. There’s also things like romance novels that can have the same outcome without the visual stimulation. Use your imagination as you read and go with it! You might find you’ll be taking your partner into the bedroom for a little fun.

            8) How Come I Don’t Enjoy Sex Anymore?

            Older couple

As people get older, some lose the desire to have sex with their partner on a regular basis. First, you need to examine why. Is it because you’re no longer attracted to your partner? Is it because you haven’t been able to make intimate time for just the two of you? Kids, jobs, household chores, and life in general makes it hard to have time to be intimate without interruption. You need to make time for the two of you. Send the kids to their grandparents once a month overnight. Or, hire a babysitter and go rent a nice hotel room. This doesn’t make you a horrible parent; it makes you human.

If there truly is an issue with intimacy between you and your partner, talk to a counselor either together or separate. There may be something beneath the surface that is preventing a meaningful connection.

We all have questions we are terrified of being laughed at for asking. If you find it hard to break the silence with your parents or friends, there will always be ways to get help, so don’t stop looking!

Your Most-Confusing and Embarrassing Makeup Questions, Answered

            STYLECASTER

Being an adult is weird. By now, you’re expected to automatically know some stuff about life, like how to file your taxes, jumpstart your car, cook at least a semi-respectable meal, and, according to every junior-high kid on social media with Kardashian-level contouring, be really, really good at makeup. And sometimes, it can feel like all of that beauty knowledge skipped your brain and infiltrated your friend’s or co-worker’s, and now you’re stuck with a whole bunch of basic questions, and the tiniest bit of shame about asking them.

MORE: We Asked 12 Real Women: How Did You Lose Your Virginity?

But, hey, we don’t care. Like, at all. We don’t care if you still aren’t sure how to use concealer, or what face primers do, or why your foundation keeps melting off your face by noon. That’s why we’re here—to educate your ass, so you can feel a little bit more informed. So we answered your most-confusing, semi-embarrassing, WTF-worthy makeup questions, below, with the hope that you’ll feel a little less out of the loop next time you’re doing your makeup. And, if you have any other beauty questions you’re dying to have answered, make sure to ask us in the comments below! Keep reading to have your brain blown.

Q: “OK, do I really need to use primer? What does it even do?”

THE ANSWER: Oh, my god—yes. Yes, yes, yes. We can’t scream yes enough. Not using a primer before applying your makeup is like putting shoes on wet feet, or painting an un-sanded house, or, uh, wearing your bra over your shirt. It just doesn’t make sense, OK? Because makeup primers are filled with silicones that transform every skin type into a silky, smooth, fine-line-free canvas for makeup to literally glide over, like an airbrushed portrait. It also keeps your concealer (and tinted moisturizer and eyeliner and eyeshadow and everything else) from sliding throughout the day, and also, it’s pure magic.

THE FIX: Buy a freaking primer! Now! You can go high-end with the cult-favorite Smashbox Photo Finish Primer , or get similar results for cheap with our favorite drugstore dupe: Monistat Chafing Gel (no, it has nothing to do with your vagina; the anti-chafing gel is filled with the same active ingredients as Smashbox’s version, for a quarter of the cost). Just smooth a rice-sized blob of primer over you clean, dry skin, wait a minute, and apply your makeup as usual.

Q: “Why does eyeliner leave marks in the crease of my eye or smudge underneath my eyes?”

THE ANSWER: You can blame your eyelids for your liner troubles. Hooded eyelids cause your lash lines to smash against your upper eyelids each time you blink, leaving a stamp-like smudge on your skin. And, if your lids are especially oily (hey—it’s not gross; even those with dry skin can have oilier lids), the liner will slowly slide down your face throughout the day.

THE FIX: No, you don’t need to get eyelid surgery to wear eyeliner—you just need to turn your eyelids into a smooth, dry canvas for makeup, which means keeping the area free of moisturizers and eye creams in the morning, then loading up on primers and powders. First, smooth an eyelid primer over your lids (we’re obsessed with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion ) to create a smooth, matte base, then dust a translucent loose powder or neutral-toned eyeshadow over your lids to set the primer. Then, and almost as importantly, you need to examine your eyeliner. If you’re using kohl or crayon, which are meant to smudge, swap them for a long-wear gel eyeliner, L’Oréal Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner or Make Up For Ever Eye Pencil , then “set” your liner by dusting the line with eyeshadow of the same color.

Q: “How do I actually conceal a zit without it looking cakey or obvious?”

THE ANSWER: With the patience of a war-zone negotiator, and the care of a Faberge-egg decorator.

THE FIX: If your skin is red and irritated from breakouts, smooth on a green color-correcting face primer (we love Givenchy Acti’mine Color Correcting Primer in Acti Kiwi ) to tone down the redness, then apply your foundation as usual, avoiding the zit itself. With a small concealer brush , dab a thick, dry concealer (the drier a concealer is, like those found in pots or tubes, like Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage , the better it’ll adhere to skin) over the very center of the pimple, gently twisting the brush to make sure the concealer fills your skin’s nooks and crannies. Gently tap the center of the zit with your finger to blend the concealer into the surrounding skin, then lightly dust the zit with a fluffy brush dipped in finishing powder to keep the concealer from sliding off.

Q: “Why does my makeup always cake up around my nose?”

THE ANSWER: Two things that don’t mix: foundation and oily skin. Or, really, any type of makeup and oily skin. If your base is slippery with oil (which can come from a super-rich moisturizer, or your skin’s natural production), your makeup will inevitably slide around, caking around your nostrils, creasing under your eyes, and settling into the fine lines on your forehead.

THE FIX: Stick with thin layers of lightweight moisturizers in the morning, like Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer SPF 15 , and give all skin-care products at least 10 minutes to sink in before applying your makeup. Smooth a mattifying face primer, like Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector , over your skin to stave off midday oil and give your makeup something to adhere to, and then blend sheer layers of concealer and foundation over your face, making sure to really buff around the crevices of your nose where makeup tends to cake. Finish by dusting your T-zone with translucent setting powder, like Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Pressed Setting Powder .

Q: “Why do my dark circles always look so obvious, and how do I cover them up?”

THE ANSWER: Ugh, genetics, right? Unfortunately, those dark rings below your eyes are as much a part of you as your left hand or your deep affinity for cheese, so we’re sorry to say that you’re stuck with them. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still lessen their appearance through concealer, drugs (not those kind), and good, ‘ol-fashioned sleep.

THE FIX: If your dark circles have only surfaced in the last few weeks—and brought with them a few bags—try popping an antihistamine (reduces the puffiness that can come with allergies) and get to bed earlier (helps decrease water retention). But if under-eye circles run in the family and have plagued you for years, your best bet is to learn the art of camouflage, which means finding a creamy, peach- or red-toned concealer (peach neutralizes blue-hued circles, while red neutralizes green-hued circles), like Benefit Erase Paste Brightening Concealer for light-to-medium tones, and Becca Backlight Target Color Corrector for dark-to-deep tones, and avoiding anything that looks even remotely yellow (yellow-toned products—a.k.a. most concealers—make circles look more obvious). With a damp Beauty Blender or sponge, dab the concealer over the shadows, on the inner corners of your eyes, and down the sides of your nose, then tap your regular concealer on top.

              What Your Peers Are Saying

I have a learning disability so writing takes me much longer than other people.
I really excel in science subjects though and that’s what I love to do. Now I can hand in great essays and focus on that. Appreciate your help.

              Andie (GB)

Nobody can understand how my essays are always as good as they are. I’m a good student and I always have been but it takes a little help to stay at the top and this is where I get it. Probably one of the few trustworthy places online.

              Sam (OH)

I’m not really into this type of thing but my laptop pretty much exploded with days worth of work on it. The paper I got here was even better than what I was working on so huge thanks to you guys.

              Oscar (CA)

“Should I hire a Professional to do my Psychology Homework?”

Debating about whether or not you need psychology assignment help?  We can all benefit from some assignment writing help…but should you have a professional look at your work and complete it?  Professional experts will definitely do a better job than if you ask a friend or classmate to take care of your work… but how much better?  We will delve into why only the best should be providing you with psychology assignment help and it’s for reasons that are specific to the realm of psychology.

Professionals will be able to Diagnose and Understand What is Expected of you

In spite of experts claiming that psychology is a completely objective science, it’s not.  There is still a great deal of subjectivism with regards to

              • How patients are diagnosed
              • What are the most accommodating practices for specific clients
              • How to understand the other person’s behavior and thoughts

This means that your writer will have to understand both the assignment, and how you would specifically complete it.  Only a professional with experience has the wisdom to be able to do that.  That’s why at x.com we screen our professionals stringently to make sure that only the best can assist you.  Should you ask a classmate or a close friend to do it, they could complete the work but they’ll be looking at the situation from their perspectives.  They would be different from yours.  A part of psychology is how you choose to consider your observations.  This is why this field is different – in other sciences, the person doing the experiment is just a passive observer.  This is hardly the case in most of psychology.  That means that your writer will have to also spend time to get to know you through your emails and conversations.  In most other types of homework help, it’s not necessary.  For help with psychology assignment though, it is.  So let’s say you decide to hire a professional.  What else would you get?

Get Your Work 100% Guaranteed and Online as Promised

When you ask yourself “I need someone to do my psychology assignment”, you’re expecting the work to at least be received in a timely manner.  This is not always guaranteed.  Sometimes the candidate people choose is not responsible or maybe something unexpected occurred and prevented him (or her) from turning in the project on time.  Professionals take these possibilities into account when they assess the paper’s due date and prioritize accordingly. This means that when you delegate this homework to a professional, you can rest assured that you will get it as promised.  In fact, a true writer will even exceed your expectations.  In our writing service we expect as much as that from our authors.  That’s why, when you choose us, you will realize just how low your expectations actually were in comparison.  So let’s say your on board with getting an experienced psychology writer to handle your assignment…what is that genuine question that every college student asks themselves?

“Can I get a Pro to do my Psychology Assignment Within my Financial Limitations?

Of course you can get psychology homework help within it!  You see, the job of a top tier writer isn’t to make the work for as cheap as possible. It’s to give you the genuine value that you’ve been looking for all within the budget you’ve established.  That’s why we give you a considerable amount of flexibility with regards to

              • When you get your assignment returned to you
              • How long you want your paper to be
              • What elements must definitely be included (such as footnotes, for example)

This gives you the power you really need to craft the most amazing paper…the most incredible part is that this all done online.

              3. Developmental Psychology Homework
              4. We now know that a horde of factors shape who we are by taking us through various developmental stages in life. There exist numerous developmental theories that tend to describe how a child grows and evolve through life to become a definitive individual in the environment. A majority of the developmental theories tend to dwell on the behavioral, cognitive and social development of a person.

Sigmund Freud’s theory of psychosexual development explains how a child goes through different psychosexual stages during development. Each stage must be successfully accomplished for a fully “normal” individual to grow out of a child. These stages are the oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital. Failure to successfully navigate through a stage leads to what Freud calls fixation. Fixation occurring for a particular stage leads to a developmental crisis. For example, a fixation occurring for oral stage may influence a child into developing thumb-sucking behavior or becoming a smoker when grown up.

Erik Erikson also stipulated the developmental stages which spun through an individual’s lifespan, all of which influence how an individual becomes in life. His developmental stages involved solving a particular conflict at each stage. Success or failure in solving the conflict at a given stage inevitably impacts an individual’s overall functioning.

Ivan Pavlov and B. F. Skinner successfully postulated how behavioral learning is induced in a child. These two theorists were the pioneers of the behavioral child development theories. Through various experiments with dogs and rats, they were able to discern how learning is induced in animals and hence replicate the same to a human’s child’s development.

Other developmental theories include Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory, Attachment Theory by John Bowlby, and Sociocultural Theory by Lev Vygotsky. All these theories contribute greatly to our understanding of a child’s development to adulthood. Hence, we can successfully impact how we want a child to grow.

If your psychology homework requires you to produce a write-up on any of these theories of development, we are fully conversant and will be willing to offer the due assistance. We understand that sometimes you may find it hard to dissect a required topic by yourself. Do not hesitate to seek professional psychology assignment help from our expert tutors and writers. 5. Clinical Psychology Homework
              6. This is a branch of psychology that is concerned with the assessment and treatment of mental disorders. Perhaps you already know that for a clinical diagnosis of a particular psychological disorder to be accurate, a number of factors need to be put into consideration. This is where the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) which is used to classify the various syndromes in mental disorders comes in.

Treatment of psychological disorders is wide in range and form. Phamacotherapeutic approaches that may include use of antipsychotics, psychotherapy, psychosocial approaches, psychoeducation, cognitive-behavioral therapy and social support are just but a few of the treatment options for mental disorders.

If you ever feel like you need help with psychology homework that conforms to clinical psychology, our psychology writers are well prepared to exonerate you the burden. Just post your homework and let our psychology experts handle it as you have some good time.

You may be given psychology assignments that may want you to discuss different learning theories that may include classical and operant conditioning or even constructivism.
